IITGN Launches Data Science Course for Engineering Professionals

• IIT Gandhinagar launches a 4-month online Data Science program with live interactive sessions.
• Open to final-year students and graduates in engineering, science, or commerce with 60% marks or 6.0 CPI.
• Apply by August 15; the fee includes ₹500 for the application and ₹1.99 lakh for registration and tuition.

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) has introduced a new initiative – Certificate Program in Data Science Foundations for Engineers.

Applications for the newly launched program are now open, and interested applicants can register on the IIT Gandhinagar website – iitgn.ac.in by August 15.

The updated certification program is designed to provide engineering students and professionals with a strong foundation in data science concepts.

The program accepts individuals who possess or are working towards a graduate degree in areas such as engineering, statistics, mathematics, computer science, science, economics, or commerce, as long as they achieve a minimum of 60 percent marks or a 6.0/10 CPI.

Students in their final year of undergraduate studies and professionals seeking to enhance their skills are also invited to apply. A mandatory requirement is prior study of mathematics in Class 12.

Structured as a highly interactive, four-month program, it provides 18 credits and encompasses a strategic mix of fundamental knowledge, key subjects, and communication skills vital for success in today’s data-driven sectors. All classes will be held in real-time online, providing convenience for both students and working professionals.

“This initiative is part of IITGN’s broader mission to democratize access to high-quality knowledge and promote interdisciplinary learning across sectors,” a spokesperson from the institute said.

The programme offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary curriculum that includes foundational knowledge, core subjects, and communication skills. It features live, interactive sessions with flexible scheduling to accommodate participants from diverse backgrounds.

A continuous pass/fail evaluation system ensures steady progress, while real-world exposure helps develop critical thinking and hands-on data skills.

Applicants need to pay an application fee of Rs 500 upon submission. Chosen candidates will then have to pay a registration fee of Rs 20,000 and a tuition fee of Rs 1,80,000, amounting to Rs 2,00,000 for the entire programme.
