IIM Bangalore 2026 Placements Paused After Panel Resigns

The placement committee at IIM Bangalore has resigned following allegations that a recruitment clause was overturned in a manner that advantaged certain committee members. In light of the resignations, the institute announced that the matter is now "under internal review."

The student placement committee, consisting of 20 members, collectively stepped down. In a letter directed to the Institute’s Career Development Services (CDS) and fellow students, the panel stated it made the decision collectively.

The letter also indicated that regular placement efforts would suffer. “As a result, support for all activities related to the Lateral and Final Placements Process 2026 from the Placement Committee stands suspended until further notice,” it said.

Career Development Services at IIM Bangalore are typically overseen by 20 student representatives from postgraduate programs, operating under the guidance of faculty members. As the committee disbanded, the typical student-driven assistance framework for placements has been put on hold.

In a formal announcement, IIM Bangalore stated that the issue is under internal review. It noted that the problem is “currently under internal review in accordance with the Institute’s process framework.

The institute did not provide specifics on the accusations or the investigation process, but emphasized the significance of student well-being. “Student well-being is paramount and central to the values which IIM Bangalore upholds,” the statement said.

The progress occurs during a critical period in the academic schedule. The pre-placement procedures for lateral and final placements typically commence in December, with interviews for final placements arranged for February annually. As the placement committee steps back and support activities halt, students are now observing how the institute handles the procedure in the upcoming weeks and what the internal review ultimately decides.
