- Industry-approved curriculum to bridge the education-employability gap.
- Students to gain technical, behavioral training, projects & internships.
- Initiative to address 1.5M+ BFSI talent shortage, projected 3M by 2030.
Bengaluru, the Karnataka government announced the launch of the Experiential Learning Programme by the BFSI Consortium's Bengaluru Chapter, in partnership with the Department of Electronics, IT & Biotechnology, and the Department of Higher Education.
The programme aims to close the education-to-employability gap by implementing industry-approved curriculum in undergraduate colleges statewide.
According to the press release, students will undergo training in their field, technical skills, and behavioral aspects, along with hands-on projects and internships at top banks, insurance firms, and fintech companies.
During the launch, IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge stated that Karnataka has consistently been leading in developing talent streams for new industries.
"The BFSI Consortium's Bengaluru Chapter is an important step to align our education system with industry needs. By equipping students with real-world skills and opening pathways to internships and careers, this programme will help thousands of young people build confidence, employability and a secure future in BFSI," he was quoted as saying.

Kharge observed that the BFSI sector is presently short of 1.5 million skilled workers, a number projected to increase to 3 million by 2030.
To tackle this, the initiative will connect colleges with industry, carry out pre-assessments, offer micro-credentials and placement assistance, and establish a talent pool that is prepared for deployment.
"With Bengaluru already accounting for about 33 per cent of India's BFSI Global Capability Centre (GCC) footprint, this chapter will further strengthen opportunities for young professionals in the sector," he added.
