IIT Madras to Offer Free STEM Training for College Faculty

The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) Teaching Learning Centre (TLC) is set to host a residential training programme for college faculty under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP). This initiative, offered free of cost, targets educators in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biotechnology, aiming to enhance teaching methodologies in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The programme is designed to strengthen student performance, boost STEM enrolment, and promote diversity and inclusion in science education. It will incorporate interdisciplinary approaches, skill development, research, innovation, global competitiveness, and experiential learning.
The subject-specific trainings will be of nine days each with a facilitation capacity of 50 per batch and offered to the faculty who teach both undergraduate and postgraduate classes. The sessions, held in-person at IIT Madras’ TLC Hall and Central Library, will cover fundamental and advanced topics, practical laboratory sessions, and exposure to current research.

IIT Madras TLC has partnered with Bodh Bridge Education to deliver innovative teaching strategies and foster inquiry-based STEM curricula. The training schedule includes Biotechnology (22–30 August 2025), Chemistry (7–17 October 2025), Physics Batch 1 (11–19 November 2025), Physics Batch 2 (20–28 November 2025), and Mathematics (15–24 December 2025). Eligible faculty can apply online at tlc.iitm.ac.in, with shortlisted candidates notified via email.
This programme emphasizes the IIT Madras leading role in improving the quality of education and creating a strong STEM ecosystem. It will have a long-lasting impact on science teaching and research in India by delivering its new pedagogical tools and research findings to the faculty of the partner institutions.
