The Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT), in collaboration with Lakshya Digital, has announced a six-month pilot program in 3D Environment Art for Video Games. IICT aims to advance, with the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence for the AVGC-XR sector, including Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality, mirroring the IITs and IIMs.
The commencement date for the program is 29 September 2025 at the institute’s Mumbai campus. An official release, India's video game industry is at a threshold to become significant on a global scale and drive innovation in the nation's creative economy. In support of this, IICT is making investments into skilling, incubation, content creation, R&D and IT development to build the ecosystem for video game creators.
The pilot program provides a structured online education for students by being immersive. Students will gain experience creating video games through structured experience, combining basic education and advanced game development. For six months, students will learn seven hours daily using studio style hands on group learning and obtaining practical experience in the development of video games.
Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, added, "At IICT, our mission is to bridge the gap between education and industry in the creative tech space. This collaboration with Lakshya Digital marks a pivotal step towards that goal. By integrating real-world studio practices into our academic programs, we are equipping students with the creative and technical edge needed to thrive in the global game development industry."
