Candidates must apply online through the official website, incometaxmumbai.gov.in, and prior to the January 30 & 31, and 2026, application deadline.

The vacancies are distributed across three key roles: 12 for Stenographer Grade II, 47 for Tax Assistant, and 38 for Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS). Each position requires specific eligibility requirements which differ from those of other positions. Applicants for the Stenographer Grade II position need to provide proof that they completed their Class 12 education or its equivalent from a recognised educational institution.

The selection process chooses athletes according to their sports achievements, according to Department of Personnel and Training guidelines. The highest priority is given to candidates who represented India in international competitions after they received permission from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Applicants must pay an online application fee of ₹200, which they must provide as payment proof during the application process. The application process prohibits duplicate applications, but candidates must select their sports preferences through one application form.
