India Post has officially launched the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026, inviting applications for a total of 28,740 vacancies across 23 postal circles nationwide.

The recruitment drive offers multiple job positions which include Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) to eligible candidates who want to work in the postal department.

Applications to the Internet-based application procedure began on January 31, 2026 and any individual who is interested should fill out the GDS Online Engagement Portal located at indiapostgdsonline.gov.in. You can only submit your completed application forms by February 14, 2026 and you can only pay your application fees through February 16, 2026.

In addition, there is an opportunity for all applicants to change their submitted application during a previously scheduled one-day period of correction, which will occur from February 18 until February 19, 2026. The first merit list for candidates will be published on the day of February 28, 2026.

The requirements state that applicants need to be 18 to 40 years old and have completed their Class 10 education from an accredited board.

The requirements state that applicants must have completed their Class 10 education and studied Mathematics and English and they must show basic computer skills and knowledge of the local language used in their application area.

The recruitment process does not require a written examination because the selection process will use a merit list which includes Class 10 grades.
