In addition, IIM Mumbai has suggested establishing a new satellite campus in or around Mumbai. The plan was submitted to the Maharashtra Government following the state's "Viksit Maharashtra 2047" vision.
This effort seeks to establish Mumbai as a worldwide center for finance, policy, technology, and academic achievement. The new campus will provide undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs with a special emphasis on economics, accounting, finance, technology, data science, law, and regulation.
The intended satellite campus is also intended to foster interdisciplinary research and align with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages flexibility, innovation, and comprehensive development in higher education.
