IIM Bangalore Offers Free Advertising, Sales & PR Courses

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), together with SWAYAM, is providing complimentary online courses in Advertising, Sales, and Public Relations. Two programs - Advertising and Sales and Advertising and Public Relations - are offered, both starting on January 12, 2026.

In the role of programme coordinator, IIM Bangalore provides extensive instructional design and expert-driven teaching, currently featuring more than 60 courses on the platform. The final date to enroll is February 28, 2026. The Advertising and Sales class will be conducted over 10 weeks, starting on January 12 and ending on April 30, 2026. The Advertising and Public Relations class will take place over 8 weeks.

The course centers on analyzing the roles and functions of advertising, as well as the concept of Integrated Marketing Communication, emphasizing the significance of ad design in crafting effective advertisements, evaluating the effectiveness of media strategy and planning, understanding copywriting along with different media formats such as print, outdoor, broadcast, and digital media, elucidating public relations and publicity, in addition to emerging trends and strategies in sales management, examining sales promotion and personal selling, with a focus on ethical practices in sales management.

Theories and frameworks of communication in advertising and public relations, Categories of advertising and media types, Creativity in advertising, Overview of public relations, Media relations and crisis management, Digital advertising and public relations, Research techniques in advertising and public relations.

To obtain the course certificate, students must meet two criteria: they must obtain an average assignment score of at least 10 out of 25 and achieve a minimum of 30 out of 75 on the final exam. Both requirements need to be fulfilled to be eligible for certification.
